You
have already successfully installed a Powerline 500 Kit? Congratulations! You
now want to extend your network to other parts of your home to connect even
more network devices?
Simply add a new Powerline 500 adapter to the room of your choice. Connect
your new Powerline 500 adapter to the existing network in seconds with the
"Connect & Secure" button.
No system requirements! No software to install! Just Plug & Play.
Each
Powerline 500 adapter is equipped with an extra noise filtered power
socket.
Do not waste any power outlet. Plug the Powerline 500 adapters directly
into the wall outlet and use the extra noise filtered power socket to power
your appliances or to plug in a power strip.
The integrated noise filter reduces electrical interference and improves
the performance of the Powerline communications.
The units
must be re-paired.
Instructions:
Each new powerline socket must be paired with the first socket.
Connect the adapters one after the other to a power strip (example picture).
Make sure that each adapter is connected with an Ethernet RJ45 cable (supplied in the box) to a working device (box, Android box, Smart TV, computer, etc.)
There must
be communication on the Ethernet port otherwise the adapter will automatically
go into standby mode.
o Example:
INTERNET BOX / RJ45 cable / Powerline 500 / Multi plug / Powerline 500 / RJ45
cable / PC
Once the adapter is plugged in and connected to the Ethernet, simply press the "Connect & Secure" button on the front panel for 10 seconds.
Repeat the same operation on the second adapter, always taking care to have an active Ethernet connection.
Repeat the same operation for a third powerline and this up to 8 powerline 500 Strong on the same electrical installation.
All the
LEDs must be green at the end of the operations.
The data
rate displayed on the STRONG Powerline 500 (as well as all Powerlines 500 on
the market) is the maximum data rate used for the transmission of signals on
the link. The useful speed is lower than
the maximum speed because the transmission of data always requires a
significant use of the band, which reduces the available bandwidth. In fact a
Powerline 500 has a useful data rate of around 100Mbit/s.
The quality
of your electrical installation can further reduce the available bandwidth and
you will usually get less than 100Mbit/s.
An overly
extensive or old electrical installation can significantly increase the data
rate loss. Potentially disruptive
electrical devices left plugged in unnecessarily can also significantly
increase throughput losses. (e.g. telephone charger, power transformer, etc.).
For
information, to transmit an HD signal, 5Mbit/s is sufficient, to transmit a UHD
(4K) signal, 20Mbit/s is sufficient.
This is normal, the Powerlines 500 automatically go to sleep if no activity is detected. When a signal is detected on the Ethernet port, the PLC500 will turn back on.
It may take a few seconds for a Powerline 500 in standby mode to detect new activity and turn back on.
A Powerline 500 is sufficient but it will not allow you to benefit from all the potential speed offered by your internet service provider. If you want a Powerline network that matches your fibre optic speed, you must ensure that your electrical installation complies with standards and use Powerlines equipped with Gigabit ports. The 1000, 1200, 1300 or 2000 Powerlines are equipped with them.
It is impossible to connect Powerlines with different data rates. A Powerline 500 cannot be connected to a Powerline 1000 or more. In theory, a Powerline 500 can be connected to Powerlines 500 of different brands, but we cannot guarantee that it will work properly with Powerlines 500 of other brands, as there may be software differences.
